  • Through our Poa Community Schools Connectivity Program, we extend this mission by connecting schools in underserved regions, providing students and teachers with reliable internet access and essential digital literacy skills to allow them to thrive in the digital age.

poa Internet, as part of its community-driven initiative, currently provides internet connection to 73 schools in our coverage areas. This program aims to bridge information gaps in underserved communities and advance digital literacy initiatives. Our Community Schools Connectivity Program contributes to the effort to integrate  ICT into public education and also contributes to the SDGs: SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Key Achievements

In 2023, through a partnership with Africa50, poa upgraded 13 schools, doubling bandwidth from 5Mbps to 10Mbps and supplying critical resources – 10 tablets, 1 laptop, and 1 projector. This upgrade also included digital literacy training for teachers through a partnership with DEAN, a Dutch NGO (dean.ngo). This upgrade benefited 4,987 students and 180 teachers.

The partnership with UNICEF Giga School Program: poa connected 18 schools to the Internet, with UNICEF covering initial setup costs and paying for bandwidth.

poa’s Support: poa directly supports 42 schools, providing internet connectivity to enhance school administration.
